In September, 2009 the district applied to the California Energy Commission�s Bright Schools Program. This program provides free technical assistance in evaluating facilities for energy efficiency and a feasibility study that results in further recommendations regarding energy efficiency.

Over the past year, the California Energy Commission (CEC) has analyzed energy-related data collected from the District and has compiled a report with recommendations that focused on lighting systems, solar photovoltaic installations and solar pool heating systems.

Both the Lighting System/PV System Report, and the Pool Heating Analysis Report are being reviewed to determine the next steps to be taken by the district.
