Gifted Education/GATE

The purpose of the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program is to provide challenging curriculum and instruction for students who are capable of achieving at a level significantly beyond that of their chronological peers.

GATE funding is used to identify gifted and talented students, and to initiate and maintain services for them. The main academic focus is on providing differentiated learning experiences that occur during the regular school day and are based on the core curriculum.

The District GATE Plan is outlined in the application for state funding. The current district plan has been approved for funding through the 2009-2010 school year. Each school has a GATE Site Coordinator who provides GATE information to parents and staff, coordinates GATE referrals, and serves on the District GATE Advisory Committee.

Parents are encouraged to participate in the GATE program at their student's school or through the District GATE Advisory Committee, which meets monthly.

The phone number for the GATE Office is (707) 399-5041.

"Our Mission is to Provide a Quality Educational System that Assures Opportunities for Every Student to Learn and Meet the Challenges of the Future."
