HOW TO LOGIN FOR THE FIRST TIME



STEP 1 - Go to https://password.fsusd.org

STEP 2 - Click on Change Password

STEP 3 - Enter your username in the "Username" field. This should be the same username that you would use to login to a computer in the District.

STEP 4 - Enter your most recent Novell login password in the "Old Password" field. This should be the password that you use to login to a computer in the District.

STEP 5 - Enter what you want your new password to be in both the "New Password" and "Confirm New Password" fields. This password MUST be at least 8 digits/characters long. Please read "Notes about Passwords" in the section below to find out about how our password policies have changed!

STEP 6 - Click the "Go" button when your information is correctly entered, and you will receive a confirmation page that will let you know if the "Gmail" password was changed successfully.

STEP 7 - Go to http://mail.fsusd.org

STEP 8 - Login using your Username and Password.

*NOTE* Only STEPS 7 and 8 are required once you have successfully set your password the first time.

NOTES ABOUT PASSWORDS

The OAPS password change utility located at https://password.fsusd.org allows any user to change their password for Gmail and for login to a computer on the FSUSD network. Using this utility will sychronize both of these passwords to make the use of our systems simpler for our staff and students. As time goes on, we will add other systems that are used throughout the District to this utility to make password management even easier!

In the past, the District has required that passwords be changed every 90 days for security purposes. Realistically, forced changes in passwords tend to push users in the direction of writing down their passwords and putting them in places that others can see, which is not secure at all.

Because of this, the District no longer requires password changes on a periodic basis. Instead, we will require the use of an 8 digit/character password, and we will emphasize the need for those passwords to be kept secret. There will be no exceptions to the "keep secret" rule. Do not give your password to anyone, for any reason - not even to Technology Department staff! The Technology Department has tools that allow password resets without finding out what a user's password is.

Once you've logged in to the District's Google Apps interface, you can access our training and resource website at this address: https://sites.google.com/a/fsusd.org/learning-center/

This website has a host of easy-to-use documents and short videos that guide you through the use of Google Apps, and it will continue to evolve as we add new resources to it throughout the year!

CURRENT STATUS OF GOOGLE APPS FOR EDUCATION

Google Apps for Education will be live for the FSUSD to use as their primary e-mail system during the weekend of July 29, 2011!

During that weekend, mail will continue to be moved over from Groupwise to Gmail, so if you login for the first time, and find that most, but not all, of your e-mail is there - please be patient. You should see the rest of your mail come into Gmail before Monday, August 1, 2011.

The archived mail that was in Groupwise, if you moved it over as directed, has not yet been moved over to Gmail. The archived mail will be moved during the week of August 1, 2011. When it is moved, you will be able to find it in the "All Mail" container or by searching for it (searches retrieve results from All Mail).
